Re: Definition of PBX?

A PBX is essentially an automatic switchboard for telephone systems that reduces connection and line charges for an organization.

Re: Definition of PBX?

Try doing some research on virtual pbx, ip pbx or hosted pbx (which are all essentially the same thing). Its a fairly new idea which uses voice over ip to provide you with a telephone system without having to buy a telephone system. Its like when when you buy web hosting services, except in this case the company "hosts" your entire telephone system for you.

Thanks John, that was an excellent resource! Do you work for easyoffice? Or just use them, and how do you like them? Did you leave a review on voipreview already? Have a good evening!

Re: Definition of PBX?

No, I use them for my business service (their virtual pbx system). We are using digital office phones with 3 lines on them and the X-Lite software (which is a great soft program by CounterPath). The service has been great. We really like all the features like being able to transfer calls between each other, a main menu, personal voicemail and extensions for all of us etc.
