HELP! SETUP is not working and techs at a loss...
I had vonage 4 6 horrible months..i live in a hotel ...so the modem is a line that connects to a closet...but vonage worked just badly...i set up the voip with the help of a friend (the one who set up vonage)...i got dial tone and i got the numbers doing their sound thang...but the no pick up on other end...dead line...my friend is at a loss, and tech dont know what it is... i dont want to cancel...any suggestions... i thought the router might be a problem...but green lights flicker and my computer is plugged into it and is working... desperate deb, nyc thanks!

Deb, Did you ever get a resolution to your connection issue? I have a customer that took his adapter to Germany and is having this exact symptom...and I, too, am scratching my head. Tom

if you are in a hotel make shure they are not blocking ports. vonage works on the 10000 to 20000 udp ports alot of hotels block ports. Hope this helps.

You will want to test the connection at the hotel. Many of these hotels will offer "high speed internet", when in reality its a 128kbps DSL line. This amount of bandwidth is not suffuciant enough to support all the users traffic throughout the hotel. If you can place a call to another phone and they cannot hear you, you have one way audio which will be caused by lack of bandwidth. Also, SIP ports would need to be opened on the firewall, 5060 range. Also, you could experience a lot of call quality issues, check to see what your packet loss and jitter rate are in the detailed results field; the lower the better! If you have low speeds on the internet connection and high jitter/packet loss, you will need to look in another direction, or convince the hotel to upgrade the internet connection. Good Luck!
