Afraid to switch away as I've had 99% success with VoipYourLife

Pro's:

Service personnel are conscientious. Are USA based. Sound like they care. Pricing is hard to argue with.

Con's:

Strangely, some numbers in China don't ring through correctly; we've dialed Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand & Hong Kong with 100% success ... but China would be about 85% success. In cases of 'error', we dial 86-55-5555-5555, and the phone rings at 86-xx-xxxx-xxxx (where x is NOT 5).

rawsushi says:

I've looked into other providers, and doubt that I could find service that is as consistent. The BIGGEST suggestion I would say to newbies to VoIP is a) make sure your bandwidth is high enough  b) if you've set up the network correctly - with the VoIP device in front of all other devices - then it shouldn't matter if your spouse, friend, or children are streaming music, video, or downloading something from the Internet. Recommend - and I'm not an employee, nor equity holder, nor rep.

As a refugee from the debacle that is Verizon VoiceWing, VoipYourLife is significantly better.  But there were several initial screw ups on their part that resulted in me waiting five weeks to get the adapter and then get my number ported, so that part was rough going.Service has been pretty good, and I am happy that they give me more control over the features than voicewing did (e.g., I can turn their voicemail on or off, allowing my answering machine to do the work instead of their system). The one thing that is fairly aggravating is the 18 second delay that occurs when you finish dialing until their system begins to connect the call.  Tech support says there is nothing they can do, and directed me to push the # button each time I dial. Seems like a simple solution, but in practice it is a real PITA to do on every call for something that should be easily fixable with some software adjustments.  This might seem like a minor issue, but try it every time you dial a number -- gets old really fast!

The best VOIP service, period

Pro's: Voice quality, customer service, price
Con's: delay after dial

Anonymous says:

I rarely write a review for services I subscribed to. This time, I feel the urge to tell others my experience with VYL. I have been searching for a good provider for long, after trying others like iTalkBB etc. In my opinion, if the voice quality is poor, it doesn't matter how many bells and whistles you get. Apparently, VYL exceeded my expectation. The voice is crystal clear, even when calling overseas. This makes one wonder, if they can do it, how come some others can only deliver poor quality?

I have been using VYL for two months now. Never had any dropped calls or poor connections. The only complaint I have is, as compared to conventional phone, the ring comes much longer after the dial. I suppose this is due to the IP nature of the dial. Other than that, the global unlimited plan is a real steal. Highly recommended!

no reliability

Pro's: quick tech support answers.
Con's: service was not kept over 24 hours.

service works for 24 hours then locks up. If box is before router internet goes down. Box after router voice loss issues. worked with Tech support for 3 weeks changing settings and still service drops. Does anyone know a good voip?

Great service, great product

Pro's: great service, great sound quality
Con's: none

Anonymous says:

I was skeptical about VOIP services because someone called me from one once and the sound quality was horrible. But as a small business, our phone costs were out of control and I wanted to find a way to save money. I read all the great reviews from customers on this site and wondered if VOIP Your Life could be as good as people said it was (it's a goofy name, so that didn't help). Nonetheless, I made the leap. The phone adaptor arrived within three days. I'm not very technically savvy so I opened the box with dread (you know, anticipating a whole afternoon of crawling under the computer desk to disconnect cables, re-booting, swearing, being on hold with customer service, etc...) Well, my experience was nothing of the kind. I plugged everything in according to the instructions, I had to re-boot once (because I lost my Internet connection) and then I was able to dial out and receive calls immediately. I did ned up calling customer service with a question about hooking up multiple phones and I was connected to a rep immediately (with no touch-tone menu promts) and he was easy-going, helpful, efficient. The sound quality is excellent. Hooray!

The Best VoIP I ever bought.

Pro's: Works great great call quality, works as good as my old line phone!
Con's: Takes a lot of bandwidth, but that's OK it saves me big money!

Yusuke says:

Bought this service after two month of Vonage service. I'm told Vonage is good, but did not work out for us.
Now I got no issues and the people that help you really know and can do stuff to make this work.

Six months out

daniel says:

Well I have now had the service for six months now and couldn't be happier. I've had no problems with my service that I can think of. These guys deliver what they promise, reliable phone service at a price far less than what the traditional phone company charges. I've got a couple of helpful tips to help you save a couple of bucks each month if you are on the basic plan. If you are reading this looking for a company to try for VOIP service, I think you will extremely pleased if you choose VYL like me. Want to hear the sound quality before you buy? Give me a call at 407-705-2422 and listen for yourself. If you were using VYL the call would be like making a local call, sorry if it's long distance for you now. Have a great day, talk to you soon. Good service but lousy website

Pro's: Reliable service, good call clarity and great customer service! Clear English and no wait times for help usually.
Con's: Website for account administration sucks. Lack of a $199.00 annual deal is a bummer.

William says:

I was one of the unfortunates that was hosed by Sunrocket, and went to Voipyourlife after Sunrocket's demise. Overall I am impressed with the service and particularly the customer service.

When I have had minor problems (couldn't connect to my mother's cellular phone due to a connection issue on their end), they were very polite, pleasant to deal with and helpful and found and resolved the problem promptly. Clear, unbroken English instead of a strong Pakistani accent was a huge plus too!! (Nothing against Pakistanis mind you. They are just hard to understand.)

I have some periodic minor niggles with the service, such as people not being able to hear you once in a while on answer and having to call them back for a solid clear connection. Those are rare however and call clarity is usually very good and the service is reliable.

I really liked the $199.00 a year deal that Sunrocket offered too and wish Voipyourlife had that deal, but at $27 and change a month with taxes and fees, it's still a damn site better than Qwest.

My only real complaint is their website for administering your account pretty much sucks. It looks like it was made by a 5th grader practicing with an html editor. They really need to work on improving the website, but I can wait for that to improve when the service and customer service are great!

Best All-Around Service

Pro's: Reliable. Good customer service. Good all-around package.
Con's: Nothing (since Caller ID was upgraded)

Dave says:

My experience is much like Freddie's, 1-25-08. I was jumping from provider to provider in search of the prefect combination. My wife thought I was nuts and she wanted me to leave it alone. Well, I'm not sorry. I'm finally satisfied with the package at VoIP Your Life. I was with them once before and I would have stayed if they had not had the problem with Name on Caller ID. They have that straightened out in my area and I have no plans to move again. My wife was unhappy because incompetent providers lost my number (twice). I was quick to jump to save another dollar or to get some feature I thought was cool. Now I'm going to stay with VoIP Your Life and focus my obsessive-compulsive behavior on something else (it's a guy thing).
